I did not notice the change until I felt completely lost while searching on google this evening, I am one of those who opens a lot of tabs (by a lot I mean 20+). Favicon is a good way to know what sites I have opened but today I was confused when I saw that weird “g”

I am sure most googlers have already noticed it, seriously I preferred the previous one better how about you? Also Google is known as “The Big G” now with a small “g” as favicon… hmm it does not really match
Okay, this is already old news but I have to post about it since we have a challenge (the alexa challenge, where we have to rank in top 100 for Mauritius). It is a good thing that Alexa finally decided to change the way they rank sites but they could have done this after the end of April, don’t they know that we are onto a challenge here?
After the *major* changes here are the new rankings for all those trying to get in top 100 on Alexa in Mauritius
rubeina.com - 448 (was 374)
vincentlecluse.com - 2,602 (was 2,981)
yashvin.net - 1,269 (was 1,405)
lucain.com - 7,098 (was 3,530)
I don’t think it will be easy for us to get in top 100 now since we don’t know yet how alexa works now and at what frequency they are going to update but anyway I had a nice time trying to figure out how to get mauritian traffic on my blog. Not so easy if you ask me, probably if I had an anime site it would be much easier for me
The new graph, still looks almost same:

Now concerning the alexa changes I think that the new rankings are definitely going to be better than the previous ones, you can read more about the changes here http://www.alexa.com/site/company/announcement
In recent months we’ve heard from our Alexa users that understanding Internet usage beyond Alexa Toolbar users was increasingly of interest. Ask and you shall receive!
We listened to your suggestions, and we believe that our new rankings system is much closer to what you asked for. We now aggregate data from multiple sources to give you a better indication of website popularity among the entire population of Internet users.

This is one of the things I appreciate about the new changes in Alexa
Ranking, before it was mostly based on the toolbar which is why webmasters’
websites were ranking better than other websites, I don’t know what are their
other sources but now everyone’s ranking is going to be fair (I hope)
