Okay, I am going to say it again and again “I am a lazy blogger”! I really thought I would be posting more often but it is the opposite that happened. Can you imagine, it has been more than two weeks since my last post! Unacceptable..

So, I thought one good post would be one about my blog stats and hopefully I will be more keen to post my thoughts. I am not out of ideas if you are thinking that might be why I am not posting, I have millions of stuffs running through my mind waiting impatiently to be in a post here. Blame me… I am lazy, but I have also been working a lot lately, time is a big problem too. Ah! If only my dream could come true.

1. Alexa

a. The Challenge
Unfortunately everyone failed to reach top 100 on Alexa for Mauritius, let’s declare the closest to 100 as the winner… that is ME! Okay okay, I am kidding. I just wanted to add, I really enjoyed trying to figure out how to get in top 100, it is just that Alexa had a bad timing for the update.

b. My Rank
Just after the update my Alexa rank dropped from 243,656 to 349,749 but I just checked it is now 222,618, that’s better than before the update. I hope they did not go back to the old stats
It feels good to see that I am ranking under 100k in many countries and I really did not know that most of my traffic comes from the United States, I thought it was Mauritius.

Cool!

2. Blog Stats

Yay! I reached 4k unique visitors today. It is not exact but that is what Counterize II says (since I installed it)

And as if reaching 4k uv was not enough, I won 367 entrecard credit from Andreas, drop your card there and get a chance to be the lucky one next time.  Great Friday evening, after all these goodies I will surely have a great week-end!

Okay, this is already old news but I have to post about it since we have a challenge (the alexa challenge, where we have to rank in top 100 for Mauritius). It is a good thing that Alexa finally decided to change the way they rank sites but they could have done this after the end of April, don’t they know that we are onto a challenge here?

After the *major* changes here are the new rankings for all those trying to get in top 100 on Alexa in Mauritius

rubeina.com - 448 (was 374)
vincentlecluse.com - 2,602 (was 2,981)
yashvin.net - 1,269 (was 1,405)
lucain.com - 7,098 (was 3,530)

I don’t think it will be easy for us to get in top 100 now since we don’t know yet how alexa works now and at what frequency they are going to update but anyway I had a nice time trying to figure out how to get mauritian traffic on my blog. Not so easy if you ask me, probably if I had an anime site it would be much easier for me

Now concerning the alexa changes I think that the new rankings are definitely going to be better than the previous ones, you can read more about the changes here http://www.alexa.com/site/company/announcement

This is one of the things I appreciate about the new changes in Alexa
Ranking, before it was mostly based on the toolbar which is why webmasters’
websites were ranking better than other websites, I don’t know what are their
other sources but now everyone’s ranking is going to be fair (I hope)

Since some days my friend and also colleague Vincent are trying to rank in the top 100 sites on Alexa for Mauritius. It won’t be so easy unless we get most traffic from Mauritius. So, we’re now competing with each other to see who reach there first! My alexa rank might be better than his for now but since he’s participating in some contest and also holding one entrecard contest himself, he sure will get more traffic than me.

But still I think it’s worth trying as most traffic he’s getting right now is from USA and other countries, our target is to get in the top 100 in Mauritius. Is it possible? I think yes if you guys help me out a little bit.

Unfortunately I have been busy the last few days with a close cousin’s wedding and he’s already better than me hihi but but but, it’s in Mauritius that we need to get in top 100, I still have a chance.

And yes, if any other mauritian bloggers want to join the crazy challenge, you’re most welcome. We have up to end of April 08 to get in top 100

Last thing I would like to add, we are doing this just for fun, it’s not like we take Alexa rank seriously, we know it’s not reliable

I am still leading hihi, I dropped a few places last week I was @ 400 something but am catching up with the rank. Vincent dropped most among us, he’s probably concentrating on traffic from the USA (Vincent you need to get in top 100 for Mauritius not United States j/k), Yashvin is catching up pretty fast (will you share a few tips with us?).
