I am not sure where I should start (more than 2 months accumulation of thoughts haha). I posted before that blogging is not really my thing I guess that was finally proven to be true… uh not really. Let me begin THE story. Do not forget to get yourself a cup of coffee just in case you might fall asleep while reading

Let me begin with why I have not been online much these days and have not got much time to visit my friends’ blogs. I have got a new job and everything changed. See, when you are used to work from home and now having to wake up early every day is a super big change. But I really enjoy my job and colleagues so the rest is no big deal. Almost everyone who know me personally knows why I have quit my last job so I won’t repeat it here. But I think it is important to inform everyone that I am no longer working for Discount Web Design. I really enjoyed working there… but time for change I wish them best of luck.

These days I am working on french  sites. I remember how that scared me 2 months ago since everything I have read and seen concerning SEO is in english (yeah right I did not have to search in french before… silly me haha). But it is great to work with less competitive keywords, it’s so much easier to test a few things that I did not really get the opportunity to try before. It’s a bit different from the way I used to work (maybe not) but it’s so exciting to see results within a month. Not having to work under pressure can be great if you love your job.

So that’s about it, also the hijack story got me pissed off (sovaz kine bez mo hotmail la kav prend li met li dan so f! ban ki comprend creol pas traduire, merci). Didn’t feel like writing much just thought I should update so people do not think am dead, am sick today not really in the best of moods.

Okay, I am going to say it again and again “I am a lazy blogger”! I really thought I would be posting more often but it is the opposite that happened. Can you imagine, it has been more than two weeks since my last post! Unacceptable..

So, I thought one good post would be one about my blog stats and hopefully I will be more keen to post my thoughts. I am not out of ideas if you are thinking that might be why I am not posting, I have millions of stuffs running through my mind waiting impatiently to be in a post here. Blame me… I am lazy, but I have also been working a lot lately, time is a big problem too. Ah! If only my dream could come true.

1. Alexa

a. The Challenge
Unfortunately everyone failed to reach top 100 on Alexa for Mauritius, let’s declare the closest to 100 as the winner… that is ME! Okay okay, I am kidding. I just wanted to add, I really enjoyed trying to figure out how to get in top 100, it is just that Alexa had a bad timing for the update.

b. My Rank
Just after the update my Alexa rank dropped from 243,656 to 349,749 but I just checked it is now 222,618, that’s better than before the update. I hope they did not go back to the old stats
It feels good to see that I am ranking under 100k in many countries and I really did not know that most of my traffic comes from the United States, I thought it was Mauritius.

Cool!

2. Blog Stats

Yay! I reached 4k unique visitors today. It is not exact but that is what Counterize II says (since I installed it)

And as if reaching 4k uv was not enough, I won 367 entrecard credit from Andreas, drop your card there and get a chance to be the lucky one next time.  Great Friday evening, after all these goodies I will surely have a great week-end!

I am sure those who use to visit my blog have noticed the new theme already, I really love it though at first I didn’t really want to have my photo in the header but it looks nice It’s a gift from a very good friend (who unfortunately wants to stay anonymous), you might have noticed him around on the blog.
He often tells me the theme I had looks gay . Here’s what my previous theme looked like

And the new one, I am in with it but I think there’s still a few things to modify to improve it. And the text under the photo should have said “Me at Trou aux Cerfs” haha no place for the deers (cerfs in french)

What you think about it?

I was checking the top 100 bloggers on technorati today and noticed that many of the probloggers post twice or more in during the same day!  Many of these blogs are run by more than one author, that’s why it’s possible for them to post a lot daily but it can also happen that an author writes 2 posts during the same day!

All that made me think…  If I want my blog to be a better and more interesting one I need to post more too and not once a week as I am actually posting.  But the thing is that I don’t think of things cool enough daily to blog about.  Sometimes I think of something that sounds cool but as I start writing about it, I am stuck somewhere through the post, decide to save it in draft (where I actually have 4 posts pending).  Then when I go back to the posts, most of the time after a day or two, I no longer think the topic will be a cool one. 

What I think might be the best solution is to post as I have something going through my mind since the next day that same thought might change or I may no longer feel inspired to post about it.  I do not think it’s  a must to post daily but sure it will help my blog to get more content and I will be posting about more topics than if I post less.  The more the merrier but now arise another question, quantity or quality posts? hmmm

Seeing the image above, you already have an idea what I want to talk about. That is, are you blogging for people or search engines? I am just curious to know. When I started to blog here I said to myself that I won’t care about the search engines, that is I will not optimize anything, no good description and I am not even adding alt tags to my images but deep inside while writing my post I keep thinking I should write this or that well so it ranks for whatever keyword (haha!). Probably the fact that I work as a SEO is getting on top of my head and I just can’t help myself optimizing to the least minimum though my main target with this blog is to get a bunch of cool readers who enjoys the same stuffs that I like.

I’ll probably update this post later with more details as it seems to be an interesting topic.
