PageRank is Not Available, Grey, Nada
I was checking the PageRank (PR) of a few websites today and just thought about mine for a minute, I know I had PR1 in the past (yes! when I had nothing on the blog) but now it is gre, blank, nothing… not even a PR0! It shows grey on the google toolbar
I am not worrying about it, in fact I don’t care at all about how google will treat this blog but it just made me wonder. I checked on a few tools just to be sure.

What’s interesting about this tool is that you get historical data for backlinks, google PR and Alexa rank for the past weeks.

Funny here is that it shows my PR as -1

This tool also showed my PR as N/A but explained a bit why my PR might not be available yet.
Taken from the page:
(1) the web page is new, and it is not indexed by Google yet,
(2) the web page is indexed by Google, but it is not ranked yet,
(3) the web page was indexed by Google long ago, but it is recognised
as a supplemental (Supplemental Results) page,
(4) the web page or the whole website is banned by Google.
1 - My blog is not so new, it’s more than a year old and even if I haven’t been posting, I installed wordpress since day one. My homepage is indexed but not www.rubeina.com/index.php This is probably the reason, let’s wait and see. But why does google treat the main url and the index page as 2 pages when they’re both the same thing?

3 - I am not in google supplemental, all my content is fresh and original (I don’t copy paste, I don’t have to fear duplicate content either)
4 - Banned? Me? No… It would be cool if I was, I’d have a cool time trying to find out why I’ve been banned. J/k

I am the webmaster of http://www.fortunehotels.in and looking the ways to improve ranking in Alexa. I have installed alexa toolbar & widgets but not big result at now.
I had PR3…. but then i installed PayPerPost code… so Google “punished” me by reducing it to ZERO!
But i don’t really care about the PR…

You remember that other domain that shows PR3 when it’s brand new! Google is messed up, now don’t even think that am into BH… just check the cache it points to another site. Google is sick!
comment #2, just installing the toolbar and widgets you won’t get very far, focus on your content and link building, I don’t have much time to analyse the site now (2am here) will do later today.
carrotmadman, yeah google is psycho, I don’t care about PR either (that’s why I have the tla code in my sidebar to check for how long they’re going to leave my PR grey) but for some sites it really matters for your credibility, let’s say you’re offering SEO services and you have PR-1 hihi shame
Hi Rubeina! Pagerank is cyclical - it goes up and down. My site was PR5 and then was reduced to PR0 for 5 months. Finally, out of the blue, it came back up to PR3 (which still isn’t fair). I think that pagerank gets stuck or “hung up” in the system sometimes. There is no seo practice that can raise it, so don’t even worry…yours will come up when you least expect it!

Bobby, imo google changes their algo too much (#$%^& to black hat seo), I had a blog on blogger who has got PR5 as its first PR that was so weird. Really high PR does not really mean much these days, few months ago people could have paid a lot for some *link juice* but google is penalizing paid links now

Yeah I understand, we also do SEO for google and I think most SEO companies do the same since if you’re good at google the other 2 (msn and yahoo) will follow.
No! I don’t want a PR4 I want to start at 0 then go up, not have a PR4 now and drop at next update.
I was thinking that Google had changed it’s algorithm, but the truth is that it has punished all the websites that were supporting paid links.
When I first install my template, there was a text link ads in it, and I had lost my PR. The next day I had taken the link and everything went back to normal after 2 or 3 weeks
Another truth is that, according to Google, they are the only one entitle to sell links.
At least the way they do it, ie anti Search Engines Optimized.
Well maybe a new pagerank update is coming on its way?
It usually acts this way, datacenters go off, some others show n/a, the toolbar becomes gray…its the same routine every 3-4 months..
Aside that, I would say that it is good that your index.php is not indexed along with the full domain (i.e. without index.php but just domain.com/).

Vincent, it’s not new that google is penalizing paid links, but IMO google is mostly penalizing links that are not relevant to the site displaying the link. E.g many times you’ll find casino links on websites that are completely on a different subject. And there’s also the thing about PR. Bah I don’t want to explain about this any further… Rule over the internet is just getting on top of google’s head
Learn SEO, yes it’s near, I forgot when was the last one (I don’t really keep track anymore). I am going to do a few tests on this blog just to see what happens, I wonder how it feels to be banned by google
