Blogging twice or more daily?
I was checking the top 100 bloggers on technorati today and noticed that many of the probloggers post twice or more in during the same day! Many of these blogs are run by more than one author, that’s why it’s possible for them to post a lot daily but it can also happen that an author writes 2 posts during the same day!
All that made me think… If I want my blog to be a better and more interesting one I need to post more too and not once a week as I am actually posting. But the thing is that I don’t think of things cool enough daily to blog about. Sometimes I think of something that sounds cool but as I start writing about it, I am stuck somewhere through the post, decide to save it in draft (where I actually have 4 posts pending). Then when I go back to the posts, most of the time after a day or two, I no longer think the topic will be a cool one.
What I think might be the best solution is to post as I have something going through my mind since the next day that same thought might change or I may no longer feel inspired to post about it. I do not think it’s a must to post daily but sure it will help my blog to get more content and I will be posting about more topics than if I post less. The more the merrier but now arise another question, quantity or quality posts?
hmmm

Ruby, dont think this is spamming -
This post might help you out with your question -

Quality is what matters.
It often happens to me too. Often in the bus I am really inspired to write about something and then it ends up being an incomplete idea, sometimes I don’t know how to express myself on something which I feel strongly about. Even my notebook does not help me with that.
what u havent taken into consideration is that in those blogs that are updated several times daily, they not even have multiple authors(as u stated) but they blog about something specific most of the times.
For we, bloggers(novice-part time), we usualy blog things that we found interesting, or something we did.
I dont think that we discover much things daily, interesting enought to make our posts have tens or hundreds of hits.
the most important thing to do is to post articles which make ur visitors willing to read them.
also, DONT COPY AND PASTE THINGS,thats not blogging!
i hate that!
The big question - quality v/s quantity?
Only probloggers post more than once a day, bcoz they need to generate
!
For normal bloggers like us, it doesn’t matter how much you post since you post only what you like!
& yeah you do not need to post everyday to attract readers… the readers do not necessarily expect daily posts!
Even then you’ll find it difficult to post everything that comes across your mind - & if you procrastinate, it’s too stale by then!
Blog = Web Log
Not a personal home page. A home page is a website. A blog isn’t a personal home page.
Consider it to be your personal diary made public. You write about yourself. Something unique to you. Not for the sake of hits or publicity.
Atleast thats by view. Depends on yours.
Rubeina, you currently have me way beat if you are consistently posting once per week.
If you have the time, then yes, it is a good idea to post more often, but even some of the more serious high traffic bloggers out there only do 3-4 times per week. Unless you are already self sufficient and make your main income through your blog (or have enough savings to live off of until you can live off of it) then 2 quality posts a day is probably going to be difficult to come up with.
My best friend Donna has made a good portion of her living from her blogging efforts, but even she rarely posts more than once per day (although she does come up with something most days). One thing you might consider is guest bloggers as well, help fill in the gaps in between when you are feeling creative.
well everyone has their own style of posting, as long as your readers are ok with your style then I would say just continue on it no changes is needed
Sorry for the little lateness to reply to comments guys, I’ve been a bit busy this w-end with a cousin’s wedding.
Chetan, why would I think you’re spamming
anyway great article you have there, it all depends on the blogger whether he wants to blog more than a few times daily. I’ve seen a lot of bloggers posting a lot daily then posting again after a few days. The inspiration don’t come everyday.
morinn, I know the feeling, I really feel annoyed when I don’t know what to write about something that inspired me just a few hours earlier…
Yashvin, you’re right in some way but I don’t think all successful blogs have multiple authors. Many have a good style of writing which always makes you want to go back to their blog. If you enjoy writing I don’t think it’s difficult to post more than once daily. Take shoemoney.com for example, imo he posts on what interesting things happening in the search industry but also post about his personal life and still got tons of traffic. & no worries about the copy/paste thingy, I hate that too
carrotmadman6, yeah right
@ your
.IMO not all probloggers “need” to generate money from their blogs, many people misunderstand this. When those actually successful bloggers started their blogs it was not the money the could make with it that motivated them. They’re just monetizing the traffic they worked hard to get, and I think most of them already have their other businesses, i.e they’re not all fully dependent on their blogs for money.
don’t talk about procrastination, I am trying hard to get rid of that $#!t it’s been with me for too long!
…
Ganesh Rao, hmm that’s what I am avoiding most, I don’t want this blog to become my diary. I will share my views stuffs that interest me without getting too much into detail about personal stuffs.
Michael VanDeMar, thanks for your visit here
There’s one thing I am a bit afraid of if I happen to start posting more often, getting lots of readers and then stop after some time, I want to keep a good pace, maybe I’ll become a better blogger with time haha.. practice makes perfect, this applies for everything I think.
BTW I am a fan of Donna, I am a fond reader of her blog, one of the very few woman I admire online
EliteVillain, I guess you’re right but sometimes a little change can make you a better and more successful blogger! It’s always a good thing to try new things, if it doesn’t work you can always go back to the way you were before… You will never know unless you try
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters
umm not related to the post I was just listening to nothing else matters while replying here
Hi Rubeina, I tend to post a lot on my blog (sometimes up to 5 per day) but I really do try and make them quality posts. For people who want to make blogging an almost full-time things. One simply must post once or twice daily with a quality post or two. Ofcourse…thats merely my opinion
Rubeina, actually thing is not totally about inspiration. If a blogger gets to write few posts together and stop for a week, he better should set a post timestamp so that a post is made at a correct interval, or this hurts traffic actually.
Remember, a blogger has to think about the reader’s interest, not about his own inspiration.
Shaun, that’s a great idea if you are planning to blog full time. I am just starting off (maybe “getting back to it” is best to describe me) with blogging and I haven’t got the hang of it very well yet, maybe in a few more months I will be posting more regularly.
Chetan, I don’t completely agree with you on this one, imo there’s no “norm” for blogging, everybody does it he feels like, either make it a personal or a professional blog, blogging about a niche and so on. Umm, isn’t it write good content and the traffic will come?
Hi Rubeina.. it really doesn’t matter how frequently you post especially when one is starting to blog. No need to keep a target for yourself at such an early stage. Post whatever and whenever you feel like without compromising on the quality of post. Posting daily comes with time and practice… once the site picks up and has got a base of returning readers, you will be surprised to know that you will have lots of things to post about for which a single day would seem like a very short time!
Hello Abhinav, thanks for passing by. I really enjoyed your blog and will surely go back
Thanks for the advice, this is actually what I am doing, I don’t want to make blogging sound like a chore I am trying my best to make it an enjoyable time both for me and my readers.
Hi Ruby, see I didn’t call you by 3 names this time
! I currently have 73 unfinished drafts which I couldn’t finish. I could never post more than 2-4 times per week because I work too much…I need a vacation!
Hi Bobby, nice to see you again (sorry I am such a lazy blogger). I know I was just kidding when I called you revellian, it’s just like you calling me “Rou Ruby Rubeina”
73 draft posts!! And I thought 5 was a lot. Ah.. I’ve been too lazy these last few days. Now that my theme is ok with everything working fine I should start posting more regularly.
